15 WEEKS AND A CHRISTMAS DEADLINE

    When Vodafone asked Thirdway to deliver a bespoke commercial redevelopment, split over two floors in their central London HQ, it was a high-frequency meeting of the minds. We live for these projects with aspirational deadlines and lofty ambitions.

    WE’VE FOUND OUR CALLING

    At the heart of our redevelopment is Vodafone’s employees- an innovative team who need the right environment to thrive. And it’s our job to create that environment, split into two distinct but co-existing areas:

    The training and collaborative learning area comprises flexible space to inspire the Vodafone team, including a raft of cutting-edge technology solutions, tiered bleacher seating, tea points, foldable walls and a communications suite.

    The high end Cat B office space is functional and agile reflecting Vodafone’s reputation as a global telecommunications leader. It sets traditional desking against phone booths (obviously), videoconferencing suites, large breakout spaces and multi-functional meeting rooms.

    PROBLEM SOLVING IN PARTNERSHIP

    Refurbishing an occupied building with existing services is always a challenge. Thankfully, Thirdway can handle a couple of spinners and still deliver exceptional results in a tight timeframe.

    Working with the exceptional people at Platform, JDP and facilities management, we first overhauled the outdated HVAC and electrical systems. Doing so enabled the connectivity, safety, and flexibility Vodafone calls for.

    This first phase involved highly technical work:
    – Stripping out existing communications and mechanical equipment
    – Engaging water treatment equipment specialists
    – Considering all supply chain elements to ensure delivery deadline could be met

    Really, this project relied on the collaboration of dedicated people. Thirdway technical teams, design partners, services specialists, equipment suppliers: everyone working together.

    Christmas at Vodafone

    By early December, we were ready to hand over the first of two floors as operational. By December 18, the second floor was ready. Acoustic panels were installed over desks, phone booths were prepared to receive calls, client furniture was prepared to receive people. We even created a training program for the expansive high-end IT equipment.

    Vodafone’s new office and learning spaces are at full capacity. Every day there are innovative creative solutions and cutting-edge technical advancements happening in the spaces we delivered with energy, enthusiasm and a shared vision with our project partners.
