Restoring this dilapidated Grade II listed building to its former glory was just the beginning. Thirdway and Aros Architects collaborated for 16 weeks on-site, encountering and overcoming challenges as characterful as the building.

Listed But Loved

  • Full 6-floor refurbishment totalling 7,000 square feet
  • Grade II sensitive restoration throughout
  • Refurbished previous plant area with a structural extension and new rear terrace
  • Bespoke steel spiral staircase leading to a new mezzanine
  • Upgraded lift and fully refurbished WCs
  • New oak herringbone parquet flooring to tenant spaces

Working with buildings of this age is always an evolving journey. Queen Street began as a simpler interior design brief, but our detail and build team quickly joined when we realised the scope of structural work ahead.

  • Partial wall repairs to tie-in Grade II façade
  • Water ingress requiring attention
  • Rusting steel structure disconnected from the main building
  • Complete tear-down of existing fittings

Over four months we navigated significant structural hurdles, worked in collaboration with clients based overseas, co-ordinated 35 staff around COVID-19 restrictions and delivered a modernised building on budget. The crowning achievement of Queen Street is a comprehensive reformation that stays sensitive to the building’s Grade II heritage down to the smallest detail.

Office’s should be more than just four walls, a ceiling, and some desk space.
With each and every project we redefine what make’s the workplace experience.
