We were given the chance to help Fenwick reimagine how they work when the brand’s flagship store and office on Bond Street closed after 133 years. Leaving behind years of history at their landmark Bond Street location could of course feel daunting for the Fenwick Team, so we made it our mission to create a ‘home away from home’ in their new office at 103 Wigmore St.

Fenwick pride themselves on creating bespoke and seamless user-experience for their clientele; we wanted to translate this same retail-led ethos and care into the office for their staff’s benefit. Part of this effort included creating varied working environments throughout the space, each catering to different methods of working and being considerate of neurodiversity requirements. A prime example being two break-out spaces next to the main desk area, a bank of higher desks and booth-seating – each catering to different working needs and preferences.

As we got to know their core team, it became clear that the history of the original Bond Street space was woven into the core of Fenwick as a brand. With this in mind, we shaped a design scheme around the notion of paying tribute to their iconic legacy and brand history — all while creating a modern, dynamic space which works for the company Fenwick has evolved into over the years. In practice, we achieved this pairing of old and new by lacing aspects of the previous office into the new design. For example, we relocated the bar stools and banquette seating from their Bond Street space into the new office’s welcome area, which added a sense of familiarity as soon as you enter the space. This concept is further elevated through a gallery wall showing antique and vintage photographs of the Bond Street building, ensuring this heritage legacy is maintained in a new era of Fenwick, and giving employees a piece of heritage from their old home.

The Fenwick brand green is undeniably iconic. Specific moments in the space are finished in green to reflect and elevate the branding; for example, the arrival bar is adorned in rich, bespeckled, tiles in shades of jewel green. However, to avoid the translation of brand feeling too obvious, we also mixed in warm yet opulent and rich shades, such as ruby red and jet black, to offset the green. The use of velvets, faux leathers, and ceramics add depth to give the space a considered and elevated feel.

Office’s should be more than just four walls, a ceiling, and some desk space.
With each and every project we redefine what make’s the workplace experience.
